Machine Washable IPod Nano
Last Sunday I put my IPod Nano in the washing machine and sent it round on a 40 degrees colours cycle. The result of my stupidity, caused by automatically taking off my top after a run and stuffing it in the washing machine, is clear for all to see opposite. This is easy to do if you use the ipod sports strap holder. Anyway, it came out of the washing machine dripping wet, the screen waterlogged and there was no sign of life whatsoever.
I did another stupid thing. I left it. I had a conference starting the following Monday and I just didn’t need the hassle. So Helen did a bit of investigation and found that something similar had happened to a friend of hers. So this Saturday, I borrowed her blow dryer and did the following:
- Positioned the nano so that the warm air entered through the bottom where you connect the power supply.
- Flipped the hold button on the nano so that you do not accidentally switched it on.
- Blow dried the nano for 7 hours straight (note it gets really hot at times, so back off when you think it’ll damage it).
I was lucky!
