Adobe goes Online

Okay, okay.  It may be old news to you, but it’s new news to me, but Adobe Photoshop is releasing an Online Edition.  By online, I mean of the Software as a Service (SaaS) kind, ala apps online…

Recently, I’ve started playing around with images, and although the desktop version of Photoshop is the daddy, there are some nice on-line tools for doing simple image manipulation.  They include snipshot, pixenate and picture2life to name a few.  However, my personal favourite for simplicity is picnik.  It’s web 2.0 feel and speed of editing puts it ahead of the pack.  But for more serious editing with layers and full Photoshop-esque application-like features you’ve got to go with fauxto.

Until now that is…

Adobe announced in Q1 2007 Photoshop Online Edition.  Now Adobe has been dragging its heels in this apps online space, but I think the online edition is going to raise the bar for everyone.  Unfortunately, it’s still in beta and available to paying (yuk!) Photobucket customers.  So I’m just going to have to observe this one from the touch line…
