Lean Software Development

This is a great book. It’s one of those books that has real gem of information every 3-4 pages without fail.  Unfortunately, it took me 3 months to read because it became my ultimate commute book.  Now a commute book has special properties:

  1. It should be easy to get back into the book within 30 seconds of opening it.
  2. You learn something everytime you pick up the book.
  3. You only have time to read x pages every commute (in my case 3-4 pages).  London commuting really sucks…

Lean Software Development, An Agile Toolkit by Mary and Tom Poppendieck was the ideal commute book.  It’s well written, has a wealth of experience communicated through poignant war stories and well thought out prose.  The authors clearly know their subject matter and have put into practice a lot of what they write about.  A must read for anyone interested in agile software development.
