About Me

I was always dreamed of becoming a Doctor. Thoughout my teenage years I studied things like biology, chemistry and maths to best position myself for a career in medicine. Then, after a rather disastrous work experience stint in a hospital, where I discovered I had a dreadful bedside manner, I sought comfort in software.

After getting a degree in Computer Science, when asked the simple question of what makes a good design good, I was stumped! Clearly, I hadn't picked that up on my undergraduate course. So I went back to school. Four years later and a PhD in Object-Oriented Design Heuristics I was a little better positioned to answer the question. Although I loved lecturing at the University of Nottingham, I left academia to learn more about how to design good commercial software.

Now with a bit more experience under my belt, its incredible just how much you need to know and continue to learn to be able to good software. And that right there is why I love creating software.
